Williams has named James Vowles as the new team principal.

Williams has named former Mercedes strategy chief James Vowles as their new team principal.

The 43-year-old was a key figure in Mercedes’ Formula One dominance from 2014 to 2021.

Vowles was one of a small group of influential senior executives who ran Mercedes under team principal Toto Wolff.

“It’s an honor to join a team with such an incredibly rich heritage,” Vowles said.

He takes over for Jost Capito, who was fired by Williams in December after only two years on the job.

Vowles, who begins his new job on February 20th, stated: “I am very excited to begin my career with Williams Racing. The team is an icon of our sport, one that I greatly admire, and I am looking forward to the challenge.
