THE FA CUP – THIRD ROUND WINNERS: Manchester United 3 – 1 Everton

Manchester United increased the pressure on Everton manager Frank Lampard with a deserved FA Cup victory at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford scored for the fifth time in five games.

Everton’s travelling fans applauded them off the field for displaying admirable character after their team went behind after only three minutes when Antony turned home Rashford’s far-post cross, but had the character to fight back.

Conor Coady scored in the 13th minute after David de Gea let Neal Maupay’s seemingly harmless cross roll through his legs as he appeared to think it was going to hit the outside of his post.

Lampard’s players fought hard even after Alex Iwobi was stretchered off in obvious pain after suffering an ankle injury in a tackle with Tyrell Malacia.
