In response to an unprecedented surge of immigrants and drugs entering the country, Sen. Katie Britt, R-Alabama, will propose four pieces of legislation on Thursday with the goal of “securing and shutting” the southern border and safeguarding American neighborhoods.

Britt, the junior senator for the Yellowhammer State who was resoundingly elected last November, will present a plain resolution urging the Senate to recognize that the current issue at the southern border qualifies as a crisis. A total of 18 of Britt’s Republican Senate colleagues have endorsed the measure.
