Second ringleader in Michigan governor kidnapping plot gets 19-year sentence

A man sentenced to more than 19 years in prison for his role in a plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, according to prosecutors.

Barry Croft Jr, 47, was convicted in August of conspiring to kidnap the Democratic governor two years earlier.

Adam Fox, 39, a co-conspirator, was sentenced to 16 years in prison the day before.

Croft had been sentenced to life in prison by prosecutors.

According to prosecutors, the defendants targeted Ms Whitmer because of the strict Covid-19 restrictions she imposed early in the pandemic.
