Thousands of mourners have gathered to pay their respects to Brazil legend Pele, who is laid to rest at his former club Santos’ stadium.
The coffin of Pele was placed in the center of the pitch at Sao Paulo’s Urbano Caldeira stadium, with fans filling the stands and lining the streets.
On December 29, the three-time World Cup winner died at the age of 82.
On Tuesday, there will be a procession through the streets of Santos to a private family burial.
Following Pele’s death, the Brazilian government declared three days of national mourning.
Pele, arguably the greatest player of all time, had been undergoing colon cancer treatment since 2021.
