Napoli cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals with a comfortable win over Eintracht Frankfurt, thanks to two goals from Victor Osimhen.
With Luciano Spalletti’s side leading the first leg by two goals, the Nigeria striker’s thumping header in first-half stoppage time calmed any remaining nerves at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Eight minutes after the break, Osimhen doubled the Italians’ lead with a close-range finish from Giovanni di Lorenzo’s cross, and after being brought down in the box, Piotr Zielinski converted the penalty himself to make it 3-0.
With an 18-point lead at the top of Serie A, Napoli enters the last eight with a real chance of competing for Europe’s top prize.
In Naples, Eintracht fans clash with police.
The build-up to the game had been overshadowed by Eintracht Frankfurt supporters clashing with police after arriving in Naples despite being barred from attending the second leg of the last-16 tie.
