Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock’n’roll legend Elvis Presley, has died at the age of 54, according to her mother.
“I must share the heartbreaking news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said.
Lisa Marie, another singer, was taken to the hospital earlier on Thursday. According to media reports, she suffered a cardiac arrest.
According to TMZ, she was discovered unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California.
“She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known,” Priscilla Presley said.
“We request privacy as we attempt to cope with this profound loss,”
Her mother provided no information about the possible cause of death.
According to sources close to Lisa Marie Presley, she went into “full cardiac arrest” before a bystander administered epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, to help her regain a pulse.
Lisa Marie, who was born in 1968, followed in her father’s footsteps and pursued a career in music. Her debut studio album, released in 2003, sold hundreds of thousands of copies and received generally positive reviews.
The star was also well-known for a string of high-profile marriages, including those to Michael Jackson, Nicholas Cage, Danny Keough, and Michael Lockwood.
She had three children, one of whom was actress Roxy Keough. Benjamin Keough, Presley’s son, committed suicide in 2020.
Presley was last seen in public at the Golden Globes Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night.
Accompanied by her mother, the pair were seen in tears as Austin Butler was awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of her father.
During an emotional speech, the actor thanked the Presley family for their assistance on the set of the film.
“Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, and your home to me,” Butler said. “I love you forever, Lisa Marie and Priscilla.”
