Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is getting closer to joining Fulham.
The two clubs are in talks about a loan or permanent deal for the 31-year-old, which could be finalized by the end of the week.
Cedric’s £100,000-per-week wages, according to BBC Sport, are one of the issues holding up the deal.
Cedric, whose contract with Arsenal runs until 2024, has made two Premier League appearances this season.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is eager to add experience and versatility to his squad by signing the defender. They previously collaborated while Silva was the manager of Sporting Lisbon.
Another potential stumbling block is that Fulham already have defender Shane Duffy on loan from Brighton and forward Dan James on loan from Leeds, despite Premier League rules requiring clubs to have no more than two loanees from other Premier League clubs.
Fulham are seventh in the league after 21 games, outperforming expectations.
