Foreign humanitarian organizations cease operations after the Taliban forbids hiring women

The Taliban’s restriction on women working for them has caused three significant non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to stop operations in Afghanistan.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Save the Children, and Care International stated in a joint statement that they would be unable to continue their work “without our female personnel.”

The aid organizations are “demanding” that women keep working for them.
