Chelsea midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk apologizes for using a racial slur in a TikTok video.

Mykhailo Mudryk, a Chelsea forward, has apologized for using a racial slur in a TikTok video posted in July 2022.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Blues for £89 million in January, was reciting a rap song in the now-deleted video.

“Mykhailo regrets any offense caused,” the Ukrainian’s representative said in a statement.

“While his intention was only to recite song lyrics, Mykhailo regrets his decision and accepts it wholeheartedly.”

The Football Association has written to both the club and the player to inquire about the incident.

Anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out has said it “condemns the use of all racial slurs irrespective of context”.

“The use of this term by prominent football figures can only serve to alienate people from the game.”
