A 6-year-old boy was arrested Friday after police say he opened fire in a Virginia classroom, seriously injuring a teacher.
“This was not an unintentional shooting,” said Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew.
According to police, no students were injured in the afternoon shooting at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News.
Drew said at an evening news conference that the shooting occurred in a first-grade classroom and that the child and teacher, who knew each other, were apparently alone.
