On Christmas Day Sunday, the effects of a massive winter storm that left some parts covered in thick snow and brought dangerously low temperatures to most of the country persisted.
At least 28 people have died as a result of the storm, which has also caused dozens of flights to be canceled and at least one boil water advisory. Several hundred thousand homes and businesses have also lost power.
The system, which forecasters have dubbed a “once in a generation” storm, has affected around 60% of the United States and has ranged from the Great Lakes near Canada to the Rio Grande on the Mexican border.
